DESCRIPTION:Forest to Fungi\nSaturday\, July 25th @ 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m\nTake a tour of the Evergreen Forest Garden and learn about the benefits of agroforestry! The one acre demo garden hosts a plethora of plant species throughout its nine sections. See real world examples of plants that thrive in various conditions in the forest that could be replicated on your property.  \nAfter the tour\, we’ll transition and learn how to cultivate oyster mushrooms. Participants will each make and take their own mushroom baskets. You’ll learn the how-to\, the supplies necessary\, and care requirements to grow your own oyster mushrooms.  \nLocation: Meet in the Science Discovery Center \nParking: Park behind the Brown House in the grass below the solar panels (right side). DESCRIPTION:During Evergreen’s Autumn Harvest Festival on September 26\, 2026 (1:00-4:00 p.m.) we will host a special presentation by food historian\, Joyce White entitled Dining in Colonial Maryland.  She is the author of Cooking Maryland’s Way: Voices of a Diverse Cuisine (2024). Ms. White offers various food related programs including: A Taste of History Programs and creates historically accurate food displays for use in museum settings through The Historic Faux Food Shop. \nDining in Colonial Maryland participants will “Learn about the various foods that sustained Marylanders in the early days of settlement through to the 18th century with distinctions being made for class\, wealth\, race\, and time-period. This program explores foods that were grown or harvested in Maryland and looks at exotic imports from around the world such as spices\, cheeses\, pasta\, isinglass\, and more.
