At Evergreen, our philosophy of learning by doing is based on experiential education or learning through experience and reflection. Why is that so important in what we do at Evergreen? Because it personalizes the learning experience for our visitors, particularly our field trip students.
As educators, we see our role as guides for learning.
We emphasize experiential learning concepts commonly associated with the Scientific Method: initiative, examination, and assessment. By offering “real-world” experiences, emphasizing creativity, encouraging group work and providing a safe space for making (and learning from) mistakes, we create a more engaging environment for valuable learning.
