Description
Also known as Carolina Spicebush, Carolina Allspice, Strawberry Bush, and Sweet Betsy.
Flowers are similar in shape to a magnolia, deep burgundy and long lasting. Very fragrant! Fall leaves are a golden yellow color.
Plant prefers full sun but will tolerate partial shade. Will grow to 6 – 10 ft. tall and 6 – 10 ft. wide (will be smaller if planted in shade). Tolerates a wide range of soil types. Deer will browse the foliage so recommend fencing until it is established.
Attracts pollinating beetles.
