Evergreen Heritage Center is now accepting applications for the upcoming
Forestry 101: An Introduction to the Career of Forestry
June 17-28th (Monday-Friday) 9:00am – 4:00pm
For students entering grades 9-12 and recent graduates from HS
  • Learn new skills needed to succeed in the field of Forestry
  • Get hands-on experience in forest management and trail building
  • Learn risk management & safety protocols for chainsaw and sawmill operation
  • Learn about tree identification, invasive species control, and forest health
  • Meet and learn from professionals in the field including: Reynwood Forest Management, Allegany College of Maryland, and more.

This two week program is sponsored by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources.  Applications will be accepted until April 15. Camp spaces are limited. Requirements: One letter of recommendation (see sample here), $40.00 application fee (non-refundable), and an interview. Interviews will be scheduled after the April 15th application deadline. All applicants will be notified by May 15th. The 2-week program is available at no cost (FREE) if accepted.

Signature and Payment

I, the parent/legal guardian of the student named above, give my permission for him/her to participate in EHC's Forestry 101 Camp program. I assume all risks and hazards incidental to such participation including transportation to and from site which is located 15613 Trimble Rd NW, Mt Savage, MD 21545. In the event of an emergency requiring immediate medical attention, my student will be taken to the UPMC Western Maryland Emergency Room. My signature above authorizes EHC Summer Camp staff to have my child transported to the UPMC Western Maryland ER in the event it is deemed necessary by the staff. I do hereby waive, release, and hold harmless the Evergreen Heritage Center Foundation from any claim arising out of injury during this program. I have read and understand the EHC Camp Policies.
